The Operations Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of the Brandon area and its professional drivers, their daily dispatch and the equipment. This position plays a key role in communicating with drivers to ensure they are ready for their shifts and are able to meet our customer requirements as well as working with dispatchers to achieve the business objectives of the region.

About the position:
Leading and directing the terminal staff on a daily basis to ensure the operations meets the objectives set by senior management
Creating and maintaining a positive working environment – lead terminal staff by setting a positive example of the expected and accepted behavior
Acting as dispatcher as in matching drivers, trucks and trailers to orders based on load requirements and qualifications while optimizing fleet resources and ensuring proper utilization when required
Working with senior management and dispatch to identify staffing and driver requirements, product assignment, and truck and shift assignments of new hires
Communicating schedules to drivers and ensuring effective utilization of schedules and ensure drivers adhere to set schedules, discuss any deviations with drivers as they occur
Providing support to drivers by assisting with fixing the issues along with the dispatch team
In conjunction with Safety, ensuring all driver training is completed in accordance with the corporate training requirements to ensure consistency of operations
Identifying driver training needs and matching the Driver with the proper trainer
In conjunction with drivers and dispatch, ensuring paperwork is processed accurately and in a timely manner
Providing coaching to Drivers on all operational deviations (e.g. loading errors, fueling location, paperwork completion)
Coordinating the effective utilization and maintenance of equipment scheduling between dispatch and the shop staff responsible for the fleet
Ensuring customer service commitments are met by all employees by monitoring deliveries and advising customers when issues arise
Following up with customer requests by responding in a timely manner including preparation of required information for meetings
Conducting driver disciplinary meetings as directed by senior management following incidents or issues
Providing assistance to senior management in all areas related to operation on an as needed basis
Preparing a variety of annual, semi-annual, monthly and weekly reports using TMW as required
Supporting the business in this leading position 24/7 when required

What you bring:
Previous supervisory responsibilities in the transportation industry are an asset
Post-secondary education with a concentration in administration, safety, logistics or transportation is an asset
Knowledge of our products is an asset (bulk commodity hauling with an emphasis on petroleum experience)
Experience with Windows based programs is required; TMW experience is an asset – must be computer literate and savvy
Knowledge of heavy duty truck maintenance and repairs an asset
Required to be on-call during scheduled work days
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Well organized, detail oriented, enthusiastic and confident with a roll up your sleeves attitude towards work
A self-starter with a highly energetic results oriented work style
Ability to maintain a sense of humor and composure in challenging situations
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Capable of handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, requiring initiative and ambition, able to work independently
A solid business presence complimented by personal drive, resourcefulness, maturity, integrity, honesty and sound
business judgment Previous supervisory responsibilities in the transportation industry is required
