Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in mechanical system design, drafting, and CAD software. The ideal candidate will support project development by creating accurate technical drawings, schematics, and models, contributing to innovative system solutions across various construction and manufacturing projects.
Duties
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D mechanical designs using CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Prepare technical schematics and drafting documents for system design, assembly, and construction projects.
- Support the development of system layouts and assembly drawings for mechanical components.
- Collaborate with engineering team and project teams to ensure designs meet specifications and standards.
- Participate in model reviews, revisions, and updates to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Develop drawings in SolidWorks based on customer requirements, providing detailed solutions and presenting options for approval.
- Modify and redesign existing products to address issues with standard company products.
- Create and modify SolidWorks and CAD data to support design and functionality changes, product/quality improvements, new product launches, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Ensure designs comply with required specifications and the Ontario Building Code.
- Create and update cut sheets
- Conduct analysis of designs using internal tools and ensure each design follows the required specifications.
- Program and set up the CNC machine, acting as a backup operator when needed.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and system design.
- Experience with schematics, drafting, assembly drawings, and blueprints.
- Familiarity with construction processes and technical documentation standards.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Prior internship or coursework experience related to mechanical design is preferred but not required.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
