THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an Intermediate Project Technologist to support our Hazardous Building Materials Group out of Edmonton, AB.
WHAT YOUR DAYS WILL LOOK LIKE
- Complete assessments for asbestos, mould, and other hazardous building materials in commercial and industrial buildings and facilities.
- Assess building damages related to floods, water losses, smoke, and fire.
- Prepare detailed reports, document findings, drawings, and provide recommendations to address indoor air quality, industrial hygiene, and hazardous building materials concerns.
- Complete compliance inspections for abatement and restoration contractors undertaking asbestos, mould, lead and other hazardous building materials remediation work to document that work completed is in accordance with all applicable Provincial and Federal occupational health and safety regulations.
- Collect and analyze asbestos air samples.
- Conduct field work involving heights, confined spaces, abatement containments and construction sites.
- Assist project team to perform hazardous building materials assessments.
- Calibrate and maintain field sampling equipment.
- Develop field, draft, and final reports for submission to project manager or supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma in occupational health and safety or construction, or Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years experience in related field.
- Ability to wear a half-face and full-face respirator, and any applicable PPE as required.
- Have access to a vehicle, and provide valid drivers license and insurance.
- Able to work outside core business hours, sporadic out of town projects and rotational weekends.
- Ability to work and travel as required for project needs.
- C.E.T. or related designations are an asset.
- Related post-secondary education is an asset.
