Sharp Bus Lines is looking for qualified individuals to join our team of experienced and safety minded helpers to ride the school bus with special needs children. This unique School Bus Monitor opportunity will allow you to play an important role in the safe daily transportation of students in need. We’re currently looking for monitors in St. Catharines area.
This is a casual position.
If you have experience working with special needs children, are friendly, approachable, reliable, and safety minded, you are who Sharp Bus Lines is looking for.
A personal vehicle is not required - you will be picked up and dropped off at home each day.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Observe behaviour of riders and ensure safety of all
- Support a positive, safe environment for riders, pedestrians, other motorists, and colleagues
- Accompany School Bus Driver on routes with special needs children
- Able to confidently communicate with the driver, and dispatch via CB radio (if needed)
- Adhere to all policy and procedures set out by Sharp Bus Lines and their customers
- Maintain and foster professional relationships with student, parents or guardians and school representatives and all other stakeholders
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older
- Must have experience working with children or people with special needs
- Be safety minded, courteous and able to provide an exceptional customer experience
- Have the ability to pass a Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Be able to communicate clearly in English (speak, read and write)
- Have experience dealing with the public and diverse groups
