The Weston Brain Institute (“WBI”), a division of the W. Garfield Weston Foundation, directly supports world-class neuroscience research and development. Using an innovative, collaborative granting process the WBI aims to accelerate breakthrough discoveries toward the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases of aging.
In this role you will be managing grants and providing administrative support to the Institute and its programs, managing the operations for at least one granting program and a portion of its grant portfolio. You will also contribute to key support functions including public relations and accounting for both Europe and Canada. This role reports to the Manager, Research Operations.
1 Year Contract
Coordinates and administers granting programs based on Institute standards and processes using grant management software (e.g. track applications, reviews and reports)
Organize and prepare documents for meetings
Work with institutional contacts to execute agreements and applicants and grantees on administrative issues
Contributes to the development of report prototypes and generates reports as required
Prepares funding requisitions, tracks cheque/transfers, records tax receipts
Prepares templates, routine letters and other communication (e.g., thank you notes, meeting minutes)
Organizes meetings, teleconferences, and updates the Institution’s planning calendars
Tracks deadlines including committee work, RSVPs, invitations
Assists in preparing financials, e.g. quarterly expense and donation reports
Assists in preparing other materials and coordination of Board and Committee meetings
Support & involvement with special projects as required
Post-secondary education and 1-3 years’ experience within grants administration, or reporting
Demonstrated experience with numbers and numerical analysis an asset
Communications, marketing, outreach or public relations an asset
Works well in independently and within a team environment
Excellent written and oral communication
Excellent computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Adaptable and flexible individual with a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities
Proactive and action-oriented personality; strong sense of pace and urgency
