THE OPPORTUNITY:
Imagine an opportunity to directly protect customers’ assets, provide a ‘wow’ customer experience and increase business value each and every day. This opportunity will allow you to work within an exciting and dynamic team to learn advanced skills of fraud management and data analytics.

Report to the Fraud Analytics Manager, the fraud modeller will be responsible for planning and conducting fraud data modelling, fraud strategy and rule management, metrics reporting and fraud risk analysis in the Transformation Fraud Management department. The fraud modeller will complete these tasks using subject matter expertise in fraud detection and prevention, data modelling and analysis and fraud tools usage. Critical thinking skills, problem solving skills and effective communication will be also key factors for success.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
You will find success based on your abilities to fulfill the following responsibilities:
Establish and maintain a deep understanding of fraud strategy, practices, fraud platforms, ATB’s fraud philosophy and fraud risk appetite.
Perform risk analysis based on various data sources to identify fraud patterns by using advanced analytics tools. Provide recommendations to improve fraud metrics.
Assess impact of fraud strategies on customer experience and recommend changes to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
Comprehensively understand the functionalities of ATB fraud tools to detect and prevent fraud including industry leading and home grown solutions. Deep understanding of fraud rules management.
Continuously monitor fraud rule performance and improve the rule management with measurable results. Build effective and reliable fraud rules to detect and prevent fraud activities with the least negative impact to legitimate accounts and transactions.
Study fraud incidents, cases and alerts to identify changes in fraud behavior and opportunities to reduce losses by creating new fraud rules that would be kept ATB and ATB customers safe and secure.
Make good judgement on solution selection by balancing between fraud loss and customer experience (risk vs. reward balance)
Act as a problem solver being able to find root cause and come out solution and action plan.
Contribute to the development of fraud management processes and procedures. Optimize reporting performance and efficiency through automation.
Collaborate with ATB teams such as fraud operation, data management, technology enablement, cybersecurity to best leverage ATB’s resources on fraud management.
Keep current of technical knowledge of fraud detection systems including future capabilities and progress within industry.
Job Requirements

As the ideal candidate you possess:
Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics or operation research.
Experienced in using industry leading analytical tools, such as SAS, SQL and/or Tableau etc. Related certification will be an asset.
More than five years of direct experience in identifying business issues or risks through data analysis.
Good programming skills in SQL or SAS.
Proven records of being able to learn new tools quickly.
Strong ability in analyzing large dataset, ideally within financial services sector.
Be able to use Boolean logic to write statements.
Fair knowledge in banking fraud management.
Good understanding of different modelling methods and pros and cons.
Proficient in Google G suite or Microsoft Office Suite.
Highly developed analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Well organized and be able to prioritize work items and manage schedules and deadlines.
Excellent communication skills.
