Overview
The Data Centre Support Specialist provides hands-on technical support for server and infrastructure environments within customer facilities. This role focuses on executing defined remediation plans, performing hardware maintenance, and validating system health under the direction of senior engineering or remote support teams. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in data center or server room environments, follows structured procedures, and documents all work clearly and accurately.
This position requires strong experience with enterprise server hardware—particularly Dell PowerEdge platforms—and familiarity with out-of-band management and diagnostics tools.
Responsibilities
- Triage hardware and infrastructure issues in coordination with remote support or senior engineers
- Execute approved plans of action (POAs) provided by escalation or domain engineering teams
- Perform physical hardware tasks including:
- Reseating components
- Swapping or replacing failed parts
- Installing new hardware components
- Run server diagnostics, health checks, and validation testing
- Capture, upload, and document logs, test results, and service reports
- Perform firmware and BIOS updates when required and approved
- Maintain accurate documentation including:
- Work performed
- Diagnostic outcomes
- Part numbers and serials for replaced components
- Manage on-site parts logistics, including:
- Tracking inbound and outbound parts
- Maintaining a parts locker inventory
- Managing spare parts separately from active stock
- Packaging and returning defective or unused parts
- Follow site safety, change management, and documentation standards at all times
Required Experience & Skills
- Hands-on experience working with enterprise server hardware, preferably Dell PowerEdge systems
- Working knowledge of:
- iDRAC (remote management, diagnostics, log collection)
- Dell OpenManage or equivalent server management platforms
- Experience performing hardware diagnostics, component replacement, and validation testing
- Familiarity with firmware, BIOS, and lifecycle controller updates
- Comfort working in data center or server room environments (racks, cabling, labeling, airflow considerations)
- Strong documentation skills with attention to detail
- Ability to follow structured instructions and escalation paths
- Basic understanding of server operating systems, RAID/storage concepts, and networking fundamentals
- Ability to work independently on-site while coordinating with remote technical teams
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
