Employment Status: Part Time/ Casual
Novem is currently looking to add a Part Time Refrigeration Operator to our team. The Refrigeration Operator will be a key member of the team, responsible for the safety, quality, performance, and improvements of the refrigeration systems. This includes ensuring compliance to a safe work environment and suggesting and making improvements on an ongoing basis. This position is located at our Kelowna facility.

Opportunities for Advancement:
The successful applicant will have the following key responsibilities:
- Operate, assist and coordinate the operation, maintenance, and servicing of plant refrigeration facilities and equipment in cold storage areas and controlled atmosphere rooms, as well as all other systems integrated into the refrigeration systems.
- Work on and assist in the installation and maintenance of the numerous electrical or pressure-operated controls pertinent to all systems.
- Required to interpret system performance, diagnose faults, and perform effective follow-up of same.
- Keep in consistent communication with Management regarding issues, projects and timelines.
- Work as an effective team player with the rest of the Maintenance Department to achieve an efficient workplace with optimum operations.
The successful applicant will be qualified by possessing the following key attributes:
- Certified to provincial standards to operate industrial Ammonia Refrigeration systems and maintain competency and accreditation.
- Have a valid Refrigeration Operators ticket, Class 3 or 4 power engineer classification.
- Be able to communicate effectively with all employees and management.
- Have a good work record and above average attendance.
- Be able to undertake assignments with or without direct supervision.
- Be comfortable working at heights.

- Possess experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
- Hold a valid forklift license or agree to attain one within the first 3 months of employment.
- Available to work various hours and shifts including weekends.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; provincial and/or federal licensing as a refrigerator operator.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform physical tasks as required by the job.
Wage: Based on experience

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
