The Financial Systems Analyst works closely with our Finance, Project Management and Information Technology teams in order to test and develop system improvements and updates. They will work closely with our teams on training and development and will create user documentation in order to maintain business continuity within the organization.
Evaluates manual and automated financial accounting work processes, systems, and procedures for efficiency of workflow while adhering to principles of accounting;
Gathers information on processes, policies and procedures, and computer technology; identifies needed process improvements and analyzes system design alternatives for financial accounting systems and improvements to existing systems;
Obtains input and feedback on system needs from appropriate parties; interacts with staff to resolve issues and problems related to systems and procedures;
Conducts evaluations and brings forward recommendations for system performance and makes modifications or adjustments as necessary;
Brings forwards recommendations for process improvements, policies and procedures, and system efficiencies;
Evaluates internal controls and security of new and existing automated accounting applications;
Assists departmental and managerial staff in the ongoing maintenance and training of accounting information systems;
Prepares and presents comprehensive evaluations, proposals, and recommendations to senior management;
Works with various departments and internal stakeholders to integrate third party products with ERP systems;
Evaluates system updates, tests, documents, and trains staff on new initiatives and system changes and improvements;
Creates reports using Cognos BI and Interactive Data Inquiry, ensuring proper access controls and accuracy of information;
Prepares documentation, such as user manuals for new and revised computerized accounting systems;
All other duties as required.
Statement of Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Post-secondary education in finance/accounting is required.
Prior experience with complex accounting/ERP system enhancements and/or implementation is required.
Moderate understanding of computers systems and programming is required.
5 years’ experience with financial systems software is required.
Sound knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls is required.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are required. Attention to detail is crucial for this role.
Knowledge of Computer Guidance Corporation’s eCMS Cloud Construction ERP is considered a strong asset. Experience using Cognos BI would be considered an asset.

Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines
Sitting or Standing for long periods of time at workstation
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
