The Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Partnership is seeking a talented Medical Administrative Assistant for our midsized medical practice (Gastroenterology).
Are you an Administrative Assistant with three to five years of experience? Do you have experience in a healthcare setting? Do you work well with both physicians and staff? Do you have a passion for quality and can you juggle multiple priorities to support physicians. If so, this might be the right role for you.
The position provides administrative support to physicians in the department. The Administrative assistant will be responsible for the clinical and administrative services associated with the operation of the clinic.
Responsibilities include; but are not limited to:
Answering the phone
Managing and maintaining physician schedules
Filing and chart organization
Managing all patient bookings; inquiries and scheduling appropriate tests
Scheduling meetings, coordinating the logistics and distributing the materials for each
Demonstrated Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical administrative assistant role. Hospital experience is preferred
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and act independently using sound judgment as well as accepting direction
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills and good team player skills
Experience taking minutes if required
Excellent time management skills; attention to detail; the capacity to prioritize by assessing situations to determine urgency
Ability to work independently and balance multiple work demands, including time sensitive requests
Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate to and work well with a diverse group of individuals including patients suffering mental health illness
Tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential issues
Desire and ability to take on new and added responsibilities
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Knowledge of medical terminology
Experience working with Accuro electronic medical record a plus, but not mandatory
College Diploma or University Degree in a related discipline, or recognized equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
