The Intake/Aftercare Worker acts as the primary contact person to all incoming service requests and is an integral member of the Family Healing and Wellness Team. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the day to day operations of the intake process for all clients ensuring the provision of evidence informed holistic Treatment Services. Worker will also provide educational sessions, referral and liaison services with community resources as needed, for clients who have previously completed treatment either at Family Healing Wellness Centre or elsewhere. Aftercare services will be provided consistent with the philosophy, approach, goals and learning environment established by Dilico Anishinabek Family Care as required.
Qualifications and Requirements: A minimum of an HBSW is required along with experience in the addictions and mental health field. Reflecting and interpreting the Agency Vision, Mission and Core Values in his/her own work with enthusiasm and commitment; acting in accordance with relevant legislation and Agency Policies, Standards and Procedures; proposing changes within Dilico that would improve the quality of service to Anishinabek children, families and communities; developing and maintaining respectful, cooperative working relationships to contribute to the integrated, seamless delivery of services to Anishinabek children, families and communities; understanding his/her role and responsibility in maintaining a safe workplace and reducing workplace injuries; applying Anishinabek culture, values, traditions and teachings into programming where possible; ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and safekeeping of agency records; participating constructively in the supervision process with the immediate Manager; experience in the field of alcoholism and drug addiction as it relates to the Anishinabek; the provision of individual and group-based aftercare treatment services; experience working with Anishinabek people; candidates without the specific education qualifications and where the position does not require certified qualification to practice, but who possess an appropriate combination of experience and other academic qualifications will also be considered.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Must have: A satisfactory Criminal Records Search; must possess a valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate or be willing to obtain one; ability to work flexible hours as determined by the Family Healing Manager or designate in relation to service requirements; must possess a Class F Driver’s License or be willing to obtain a Class F license and have access to a personal vehicle; must complete a medical and receive the required immunizations as recommended by the local medical officer of health.
