Position Summary:
We are currently seeking caring, responsible, and flexible Substitute Early Childhood Educators (ECE) and Early Childhood Educator Assistants (ECEA) to join our team. This position is ideal for educators who are passionate about working with young children in a Montessori-inspired, play-based environment and are committed to supporting their overall growth and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
- Lead activities such as storytelling, singing, dramatic play, crafts, and outdoor exploration, including visits to local points of interest
- Encourage children to express creativity through art, music, dramatic play, and physical activity
- Guide and assist children in developing independence and self-help skills, including proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral challenges, and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
- Discuss children’s progress and challenges during staff meetings and collaborate with the team to provide consistent support
- Plan and maintain a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment that protects the well-being of all children
- Maintain respectful, responsive relationships with children, families, and team members
Qualifications:
- Valid ECEA or ECE Certificate and License to Practice in BC
- Current First Aid & CPR-C certification
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Knowledge of or experience with Montessori and play-based learning is an asset
- Strong communication, observation, and teamwork skills
- Passion for early childhood education and a warm, respectful approach toward children
Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
