Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Heavy Forklift Operator to join our yard and shipping team. This position is ideal for candidates with experience operating large-capacity forklifts in steel, construction materials, manufacturing, industrial, port, or heavy logistics environments.
Position Summary
The Heavy Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe movement, loading, unloading, staging, and organization of structural steel and oversized industrial materials throughout the facility using 25,000 lb to 30,000 lb diesel forklifts.
This role is primarily outdoors and requires strong equipment operating skills, safety awareness, and experience handling oversized loads.
Conditions:
Work Schedule: Afternoon /Evening shift (3PM - 11PM) Monday to Friday
Pay Rate: 23.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Operate 25,000–30,000 lb diesel forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload structural steel from flatbed trailers and transport trucks.
- Transport materials between production, storage, and shipping areas.
- Organize inventory throughout the yard.
- Verify shipping and receiving documentation.
- Inspect loads for safe transport and proper placement.
- Perform pre-shift equipment inspections.
- Report equipment issues and maintenance requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist shipping and receiving personnel as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of heavy forklift operating experience.
- Experience operating forklifts exceeding 15,000 lbs capacity.
- Valid forklift certification.
- Experience loading and unloading flatbed trailers.
- Ability to work safely around oversized steel products.
- Strong understanding of load securement principles.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round.
- Reliable transportation and attendance.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety.
Preferred
- Experience operating 25,000–30,000 lb forklifts.
- Structural steel or metal fabrication experience.
- Shipping and receiving experience.
- Experience in galvanizing, steel manufacturing, industrial logistics, construction materials, ports, or heavy industry.
- Rigging and lifting experience.
Pay: Up to $23.00 per hour
