Are you a talented and enthusiastic Electrical Engineer looking for an exciting next step in your career? Does working on multi-disciplinary projects excite you? If so, we want to hear from you!
A Little About Us
At ISL, we share an enthusiasm for community infrastructure. From planning through to design and construction administration, we create nimble teams to tackle the unique requirements of every project. Our technical expertise encompasses transportation, community planning, civil engineering, municipal, landscape architecture, buildings, environmental management, water, structural, community engagement, geomatics, construction services and 3D visualization. Just the right size, ISL delivers complex projects while being small enough to maintain strong, cohesive project teams and personal client attention and service.
ISL’s Electrical Team is part of the larger Water Team which is made up of 25 individuals who have close working relationships centered around water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. We have expertise in water and wastewater treatment, pumping stations and reservoirs, linear infrastructure for collection and distribution and of course water system planning.
- We are subject matter experts yet make the time and space to grow our skillset
- We have a young and talented team of rising stars who work independently and in groups
- We are part of a larger and very dynamic team – we collaborate, learn from each other, and come up with innovative solutions as a team
ISL’s Water Team works to deliver excellent projects and services for our clients across BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan in a highly collaborative environment. We work on municipal water and wastewater projects that can have varied scope and complexity. Our client base is both internal (support for other disciplines) and external (municipalities). We are committed to finding, mentoring, and growing the right individual so that you enjoy a long career at ISL. You can expect the following when you join the Water Team at ISL:
- Interesting work – You can expect to be involved in a variety of multi-disciplinary and challenging projects. From small pump stations and lift stations to more complex mechanically based treatment systems for water and wastewater treatment.
- Alternative project delivery models – We don’t just do conventional design-bid-build projects. We also do projects using highly collaborative delivery models such as Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). We are one of the leaders in Canada on IPD projects in the municipal engineering industry.
- Training, Mentorship & Independence – We provide training, mentorship, and we grow our staff to be responsible professionals. We want team members that can think on their feet, ask questions when things are not clear, and want to progress their career along any number of pathways.
- Fun, Flexibility & Hybrid Work Environment – Culture is key, and we foster a strong team culture in multiple ways. Having fun is literally written into our strategic plan and we walk the talk. We understand the dynamic nature of work and personal life so we offer a hybrid work environment to help facilitate success in both.
A few projects we have worked on that we are proud of:
- New Mechanical Wastewater Treatment Facility, City of Lloydminster
- ISL partners with Amii (Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute) to explore how Machine Learning can make water treatment more environmentally friendly
- St. Albert Pump Station
We also do work in using Artificial Intelligence for autonomous process control through ISL Adapt. We currently have a fully funded and tangible research project underway with very positive commercialization potential. This project is in the technology deployment and testing phase. You could potentially work on this research project or commercial applications in the water industry as part of this role should you desire.
