Reports to: Director, Finance – Case Costing & Activity Reporting
Salary Range: $80,418 - $100,523 per annum
Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week
Status: Permanent Full-time

University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Activity Reporting Specialist in our Corporate Finance department.

As an integral member of the Corporate Finance team, the responsibilities of the Activity Reporting Specialist will vary from assignment to assignment including:

Manages and maintains the system of statistical General Ledger including responsibilities for activity data quality and coverage, ensuring quality and integrity of the statistical data and compliance to the OHRS/MIS Guidelines
Prepares monthly/quarterly packages for management to facilitate the decision-making and statistics reporting process, setting up processes to ensure that the responsibilities are carried out in a timely, efficient and accurate basis
Develops process to support critical MOH/OH submissions including Daily Bed Census Reporting, Trial Balance Submission, SRI, HAPS etc.
Reviews continually the departmental implementation within the activity reporting system, develops plans to bring in new department activity reporting data
Interprets changes to reporting requirements issued by the Ministry of Health and explains these to the management team. Assists in implementation of a new MOH stats mandates.
Provides business advice, education and guidance to various teams regarding use of statistical information. Implements audit tools to enhance accuracy and timeliness of statistics
Prepares necessary statistical analyses to evaluate financial risks. Prepares in-depth reviews and analysis of MOH volume-funded activity on a regular, monthly, quarterly and annual basis
Works with the financial planning team to create annual statistics budget at UHN level; provides guidance and consultative assistance to directorates with the preparation of their budget (statistics), analyzes and recommends budget changes as required
Develops and maintains key indicators related to statistical reporting; this involves the collection, calculation, reporting and distribution of hospital performance and utilization indicators
Plays leadership role in the development of statistical reporting strategy , Deals with ad hoc requests on activity analysis, trending, benchmarking etc. for both internal and external clients
Actively involved in multiple projects (Synapse HIS project, SAP project etc.), performs other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
Prepares formal written and oral presentations to internal and external decision makers
Provides functional supervision of lower level Analyst(s); gives direction and guidance, checks and verifies work
Leads and coordinates with audit requests, assists with follow-up of action plans

Qualifications:
University Degree or equivalent working experience
5+ years’ experience in complex healthcare environment with exposure to a range of reporting principles, practices and procedures required
Computer software proficiency in SAP and Advanced Excel, with an aptitude for learning new computer applications quickly
Excellent analytical, problem solving and attention to detail with the ability to identify trends, and provide business recommendations
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent verbal and communication skills
MIS/OHRS certificate preferred, EPIC system experience is an asset
Ability to take initiative, embrace challenges and lead process improvement projects
Excellent customer services skills required
Adheres to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial data and information
Ability to work accurately under time constraints required
Experience with process improvement
Critical thinking skills and willingness to challenge the status quo
Ability to work independently and as a great team player who brings the positive impact to the team and thrives in a changing environment
A strong service orientation with a passion to advance the mission of UHN
