About the Role
The Cabinetry Sander is responsible for preparing cabinet components and surfaces for the next stage of production by ensuring parts are properly sanded, smooth, clean, and ready for finishing or assembly.
This is a hands-on, physically active position requiring attention to detail, good hand skills, and the ability to maintain consistent quality while performing repetitive work.
Key Responsibilities
- Sand cabinet doors, panels, components, and other wood or manufactured surfaces according to production requirements.
- Prepare surfaces to ensure they are smooth, clean, and free from imperfections.
- Identify scratches, dents, glue residue, chips, or other imperfections and correct them where possible.
- Use hand sanding tools and/or sanding equipment safely and effectively.
- Follow work orders, production specifications, and established quality standards.
- Inspect completed work to ensure surfaces meet Norelco's quality expectations.
- Handle cabinet components carefully to prevent damage during production.
- Maintain consistent quality and production standards throughout the workday.
- Identify and report damaged or defective components to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
- Work cooperatively with other production departments to maintain an efficient production flow.
- Meet production schedules while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
Requirements
- Previous experience in cabinetry, woodworking, manufacturing, sanding, or a related field is an asset.
- Experience using hand sanding tools or production sanding equipment is preferred.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to recognize surface imperfections and inconsistencies.
- Ability to follow work orders, production instructions, and specifications.
- Ability to perform repetitive work while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and handle cabinet components.
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written, are required to effectively understand work orders, production instructions, safety requirements, and communicate with team members.
