Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and responsible Confined Space Entry Monitor to oversee safety procedures during entry into confined spaces. This critical role ensures compliance with safety standards, protects workers, and prevents accidents in potentially hazardous environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to work effectively in high-risk settings. Prior experience in industrial safety or confined space operations is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Monitor personnel entering and working within confined spaces to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-entry assessments, including atmospheric testing for oxygen levels, toxic gases, and flammable vapors.
- Maintain communication with entry personnel throughout the operation using appropriate communication devices.
- Enforce use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment at all times.
- Document all entry activities, safety checks, and incidents accurately in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Respond promptly to emergencies or unsafe conditions by initiating rescue procedures or alerting emergency services.
- Collaborate with safety teams to develop and review confined space entry procedures and risk assessments.
- Ensure all required permits are obtained before entry and that all safety measures are followed diligently.
Skills
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations related to confined space entry and industrial safety standards.
- Excellent observational skills to identify potential hazards and unsafe behaviors.
- Effective communication skills for clear coordination with team members and emergency responders.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Physical fitness to perform safety checks, wear PPE, and assist in rescue operations if necessary.
- Prior experience in industrial environments, construction sites, or safety monitoring is advantageous but not required. This role is vital for maintaining a safe working environment during confined space operations, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations while protecting personnel from hazards associated with such environments.
Required Certifications
- Confined Space Entry Monitor certification.
- Basic or Intermediate First Aid (OFA 1 or OFA 2).
Schedule
- 8-12 hour shift
- Starts at 7am
- Start date is June 2nd
Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
