Job Description
We are seeking a highly proficient English speaker with strong teaching and communication skills to join our team as a Summer English Teacher. The primary focus of this role is to teach English through novel reading, helping students develop their reading comprehension, critical thinking, vocabulary, and communication skills in an engaging and interactive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach English classes centered on novel reading and literary discussion.
- Guide students in understanding plot, character development, themes, and literary techniques.
- Design and deliver engaging lessons, discussions, and activities based on assigned novels.
- Encourage students to express their ideas through speaking, writing, and group discussions.
- Adapt lesson plans and reading materials to suit different age groups and proficiency levels.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Create a positive, supportive, and interactive classroom environment.
Requirements
- Native or near-native English proficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in English, Education, Literature, or a related field.
- Previous teaching experience, especially in ESL/EFL, language arts, literature, or reading instruction, is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for teaching and fostering a love of reading.
- Patient, enthusiastic, and adaptable to students’ learning needs.
- Experience working with children and young adults is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with teaching novels and leading literary discussions.
- Experience developing reading comprehension and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to create engaging, student-centered learning activities.
