Bracewell Marine is one of the leading marine service shipyards in British Columbia. We proudly repair, repower, and build marine vessels such as fishboats, tugboats, commercial, government, and private vessels up to 130 feet and 220 tonnes. Operating in the Shelter Island Marina in Richmond, BC, we are part of the extensive BC marine industry supporting the 4th largest port in North America and the logging, fishing, tourism, and pleasure craft markets.
We are looking for an Equipment and Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our shipyard team. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving the reliability of our equipment, facilities, vehicles, trailers, tools, and yard infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver who can work independently and take ownership of maintenance priorities.
Responsibilities
· Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain shipyard equipment including forklifts, scissor lifts, overhead cranes, 20-ton cranes, compressors, lathes, presses, and power tools
· Maintain and repair a small fleet of vehicles, flat deck trucks, trailers, and related equipment
· Maintain and improve facilities including buildings, tent structures, lighting, doors, AC/HVAC systems, and yard infrastructure
· Perform preventative maintenance and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency
· Independently plan and run projects such as bridge crane installations and shop equipment moves, including footings, rigging, and mechanical/electrical installation, with technical assistance available from other trades
· Provide on-site logistics support to other trades and supply chain, including forklift, boom lift/scissor lift, and crane support
· Support shipyard repair and new-build teams when needed
· Work at heights, including up to approximately 80 ft off the ground, and in confined spaces when required

Skills and Experience
· Required: 5-10 years of technical, maintenance, repair, or trades-related experience
· Required: Strong hands-on troubleshooting and repair ability across mechanical, electrical, equipment, vehicle, trailer, and facility systems
· Required: Some form of technical background such as mechanic, power technician, millworker/woodworker, electrician, or similar maintenance/trades experience
· Required: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and complete projects with minimal supervision
· Required: Valid driver’s license and experience driving flat deck trucks and towing trailers
· Required: Ability to drive a forklift and operate a scissor lift
· Required: Ability to work at heights, outdoors, and in confined spaces
· Required: Team-player with a positive attitude and the ability to execute quality work safely and efficiently
· Asset: Confined space, fall protection, crane and/or boom lift certification (training available)
· Asset: Class 1, 2, or 3 driver licence, or Class 5 with Heavy Trailer Endorsement Code 20; air brake endorsement where applicable
· Asset: Experience in a shipyard, industrial, construction, manufacturing, or marine environment
Other Details
· Full-time permanent, available immediately, Monday - Friday, 8-hour daytime shifts
· $30-40/hr depending on experience and education, with opportunities for training and advancement in marine industry trades
