Daycare Director
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Daycare Director to lead our licensed non-profit child care centre serving children ages 12 months to 5 years, as well as our Out-of-School Care Program for children ages 5 to 12 years.
The Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and day-to-day operations of the centre, ensuring high-quality care, educational programming, and compliance with Alberta's Early Learning and Child Care legislation and licensing requirements. The role includes overseeing staff, supporting families, managing budgets, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment for children, families, and employees. Alberta recognizes program directors as responsible for the day-to-day operations of licensed child care programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of the daycare and out-of-school care programs.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate educators and support staff.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta licensing regulations, health and safety requirements, and organizational policies.
- Promote high-quality, play-based learning environments that support children's development and well-being.
- Build strong relationships with families and address concerns professionally.
- Manage enrolment, staffing, scheduling, budgets, and funding requirements.
- Collaborate with the Manager and Board of Directors to support the organization's mission and strategic goals.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for children ages 12 months to 12 years.
Qualifications
- Alberta Early Childhood Educator Level 3 Certification.
- Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience in a licensed child care setting.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta child care licensing regulations and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification and Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
