Job Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic and dependable Seasonal Cooks to join our culinary team in Casa Loma. This roles offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment, supporting kitchen operations during peak seasons. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items for banquet and catered events.
- Follow standardized recipes, portion controls, and presentation guidelines.
- Assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of food service.
- Ensure food is prepared and served on schedule to meet event timelines.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and appearance.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor food inventory and notify supervisors of shortages.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food products using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Support other kitchen operations as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in banquet, catering, hotel, restaurant, or high-volume food production environments preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen operations.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to work in hot, fast-paced kitchen environments.
- Manual dexterity to operate kitchen equipment and prepare food safely.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with large-scale food production and banquet service.
- Food Handler Certification or equivalent.
- Familiarity with buffet, plated, and catered event service styles.
- Knowledge of proper sanitation and food safety practices.
- Experience operating commercial dishwashing equipment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently during busy service periods.
