The Burnaby School District is looking to hire a full-time Carpenter to work throughout the District. This position is responsible for a full range of carpentry work throughout the district including new construction, renovation/alteration and maintenance of School District buildings and structures.
Applicants must have:
Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent)
Successful completion of the B.C. Apprenticeship Program and a valid BC or Interprovincial Journeyman Carpenter Trades Qualification (TQ) is required
Four years related work experience as a Journeyman (post TQ)
Demonstrated training and work experience in current BC construction/maintenance safety requirements
Valid B.C. Driver’s License (Class 5)
Experience in cabinet making (Joinery) is a definite asset
Experience using production line shop joinery equipment such as table saws, edger, joiner and dowel machines are an asset.
Applicants are expected to:
Have thorough knowledge of construction and construction safety practices
Possess the physical condition and health to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job (including climbing ladders/scaffolds, and lifting and carrying heavy materials/objects)
Maintain good interpersonal skills and have good verbal and written communication skills
Applicants must be:
Knowledgeable of safety procedures and materials, methods and equipment related to carpentry
A self-starter with an ability to organize daily tasks, work independently and as a member of a team
This position works 40-hours/week and pays $42.51 per hour. This position comes with a benefits package that includes extended health, dental, paid vacation/sick days, paid gratuity leave, and pension.
