We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dispatcher to coordinate transportation operations and ensure the efficient movement of freight.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and dispatch drivers, vehicles, and equipment.
- Coordinate pickup and delivery appointments.
- Monitor shipment status and track vehicles in real time.
- Communicate with drivers regarding routes, delays, and customer requirements.
- Negotiate and book loads with brokers and customers.
- Resolve transportation issues, including delays, breakdowns, and service concerns.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.
- Maintain dispatch records, load information, and driver documentation.
- Provide regular updates to customers on shipment progress.
- Optimize routes and fleet utilization to improve efficiency and profitability.
Required Skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of dry van freight operations and trucking regulations.
- Experience using dispatch software and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Customer service and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and logistics software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with dry van, OTR, Power only , LTL or cross-border freight.
- Familiarity with DAT, Truckstop, Loadlink, TruckMate, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of freight rates, lane planning, and load optimization.
Ability to commute/relocate:
Brampton, ON L6T 5E7. reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
