Equipment Operator (Term)
Wildwood, AB
Position Summary
Reporting to the Area Supervisor, the Equipment Operator performs skilled work for both summer and winter road maintenance. This work includes a variety of both equipment and labour-intensive tasks.
Position Responsibilities
Road Maintenance
- Operate grader, snow plow truck, gravel truck, loader, skid steer and other miscellaneous equipment.
- Carry out daily maintenance of equipment.
- Observe and report road, sign and culvert conditions when required.
- Brushing and clearing.
- Sign maintenance, installation and washing.
- Erosion control.
- Refuse collection.
- After hours response as required.
- Labour related duties as required.
Qualification, Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
Education/Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to attain Flagman Training, completed training preferred.
- Ability to complete WHMIS/TDG courses, completed courses preferred.
- Ability to complete Intermediate First Aid certification, possession of current certification preferred.
- Two (2) years of small and heavy equipment operation.
- Two (2) years of road construction and maintenance.
- Municipal experience considered an asset.
- Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.
- Mechanical Aptitude.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Valid Class 3 Operators License with Air Brake Endorsement.
- Acceptable and current driver’s abstract required.
- Completion of defensive driving required.
Work Environment
- Primarily outside work
- Physical effort required.
The annual salary for this position is $71,235-$88,331. This is term position of 9 months, with possible extension. This competition closes July 20, 2026 at 4:30 PM.
