AZIMUTH AZ80 ROTARY PRESS OPERATOR

Position Summary
The Azimuth AZ80 Rotary Press Operator is responsible for safely operating and maintaining the rotary press system used to manufacture stainless steel components from coiled material. The operator ensures that production requirements are met while maintaining strict standards for safety, product quality, equipment condition, and material accountability.
The operator reports directly to the Shop Manager and must immediately communicate any safety concerns, equipment problems, quality issues, production delays, or inventory discrepancies.
Primary Responsibilities
· Follow all company safety policies, safe work procedures, equipment-specific instructions, and applicable regulatory requirements.
· Wear all required personal protective equipment.
· Inspect guards, emergency stops, safety devices, tooling, coil-handling equipment, and the surrounding work area before operation.
· Follow all lockout/tagout procedures before performing maintenance, clearing jams, adjusting tooling, or entering a hazardous area.
· Immediately stop the equipment and notify the Shop Manager if an unsafe condition, abnormal operation, or equipment malfunction is identified.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and obstruction-free work area.
Equipment Operation
· Safely set up and operate the Azimuth AZ80 Rotary Press System according to manufacturer instructions and company procedures.
· Load, thread, align, and process 16-gauge stainless steel coil material.
· Confirm that the correct coil, tooling, machine settings, and production documentation are being used for each project.
· Monitor coil tracking, feed alignment, part straightness, tooling condition, lubrication, and overall machine performance throughout production.
· Make authorized adjustments required to maintain safe operation and acceptable part quality.
· Monitor material for coil set, surface damage, dimensional variation, or other conditions that could affect the finished product.
· Safely shut down and secure the equipment at the end of production or when the machine is unattended.
Preventive Maintenance
· Complete all daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and usage-based maintenance tasks prescribed by the manufacturer and CCS Contracting Ltd.
· Perform maintenance at the specified intervals using the approved procedures, lubricants, replacement parts, and service records.
· Inspect the press, tooling, feed system, lubrication system, guards, sensors, electrical components, and coil-handling equipment.
· Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
· Report abnormal wear, leaks, unusual noise, vibration, damaged tooling, safety-system faults, or other maintenance concerns to the Shop Manager.
· Remove equipment from service when its continued operation could create a safety hazard, damage the machine, or produce unacceptable parts.
· Assist qualified maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and repairs when requested.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control
· Perform QA/QC inspections on all parts manufactured with the system.
· Verify the first completed part before beginning full production.
· Confirm that parts meet the approved drawings, dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, quantities, and project requirements.
· Perform and document inspections at the required intervals throughout the production run.
· Monitor part dimensions, hole locations, formed profiles, straightness, surface condition, and other specified quality characteristics.
· Identify, segregate, label, and report non-conforming material or parts.
· Stop production when parts fall outside the approved specifications or when a process condition could affect product quality.
· Record production quantities, rejected parts, scrap, rework, and the cause of any non-conformance.
· Ensure completed parts are properly identified, protected, counted, and transferred to the appropriate production stage or storage area.
Inventory and Material Tracking
· Verify that the coil material assigned to each project matches the work order and material specifications.
· Accurately track coil usage, production quantities, remaining material, scrap, rejected material, and reusable remnants for every project.
· Maintain the required inventory, production, and material-consumption records.
· Ensure coils and remnants are properly identified with the applicable material type, thickness, project number, and remaining quantity.
· Report inventory discrepancies, damaged material, material shortages, and unexpected levels of scrap to the Shop Manager.
· Use materials responsibly to minimize waste and prevent unauthorized use or incorrect project allocation.
· Assist with physical inventory counts when requested.
Documentation and Communication
· Complete production reports, inspection records, maintenance logs, material-usage records, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
· Communicate production status, equipment condition, quality concerns, and material requirements to the Shop Manager.
· Participate in safety meetings, production meetings, equipment training, and continuous-improvement activities.
· Provide clear information during shift changes or when another authorized employee takes over the equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
· Experience operating industrial presses, roll-forming equipment, coil-processing machinery, or similar fabrication equipment is preferred.
· Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, work orders, measuring instruments, and material specifications.
· Ability to use measuring equipment such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, squares, and inspection gauges.
· Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to recognize abnormal machine operation.
· Strong attention to safety, accuracy, quality, and material accountability.
· Ability to maintain clear and accurate production, maintenance, and inventory records.
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently within the limits of assigned training and authorization.
· Willingness to complete all company-required and manufacturer-recommended training.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand for extended periods and work around industrial machinery.
· Ability to safely handle parts, tooling, and materials within established lifting limits.
· Ability to bend, reach, inspect equipment, and perform routine cleaning and maintenance activities.
· Ability to work safely in an active fabrication environment where noise, sharp edges, moving equipment, and metalworking hazards are present.
Performance Expectations

· Consistent compliance with safety requirements.
· Safe and reliable operation of the Azimuth AZ80 Rotary Press System.
· Completion of prescribed maintenance at the required intervals.
· Production of parts that meet approved quality requirements.
· Accurate QA/QC, production, maintenance, and inventory records.
· Responsible use of project-assigned materials.
· Timely reporting of safety, equipment, quality, and inventory concerns.
· Good housekeeping and proper care of company equipment and tooling.
Additional Information:
- Must own CSA-approved steel-toed safety boots.
- Punctuality and reliability are essential.
- Work performed in-person at our manufacturing facility located in North-West Edmonton.
Working Conditions:
- Monday to Friday starting at 7:00 a.m., minimum 9-hour workday.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- Exposure to frequent loud noises inside the manufacturing facility.
- Fast-paced environment requiring strong attention to detail.
