The Opportunity
If you love mathematics and you love helping students overcome their math anxiety, this is your role. We're seeking tutors who can work flexibly with learners across the entire K–12 spectrum—from Grade 3 students building number foundations to Grade 12 students preparing for university-level coursework. This is 100% remote, entirely self-directed, and deeply rewarding.
What You'll Teach
- Elementary Numeracy & Foundations: Help younger students develop number sense, confidence with operations, and a positive relationship with math
- Middle School Fundamentals: Guide learners through fractions, decimals, ratios, introductory algebra, and geometry
- Secondary Advanced Topics: Support high school students tackling algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, vectors, data management, and university-prep courses
- Specialized Areas: Work with students on exam prep, remediation, acceleration, or exploration of niche math topics
What You'll Do
- Design Adaptive Lessons: Create instruction that mirrors each student's learning style, pace, and unique academic needs
- Teach for Understanding: Move beyond procedure to help students grasp why math works the way it does
- Bring Math Alive Online: Use Zoom, graphing tools, digital whiteboards, manipulatives, and visualization software to make abstract concepts tangible
- Track Real Progress: Keep detailed records and give students feedback they can act on
- Respect Curriculum: Ground your teaching in Ontario Curriculum standards while maintaining flexibility for individual student pathways
Who We're Looking For
- Math Subject Expert: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Experienced Instructor: Proven track record teaching or tutoring math across multiple grade levels
- Ontario Curriculum Knowledgeable: Solid familiarity with provincial standards and assessment (a real asset)
- Engaging Virtual Educator: Energetic, patient, and able to sustain student motivation on camera
- Technically Capable: Comfortable with Zoom, digital tools, and willing to problem-solve tech issues
- Scheduling Flexibility: Available for evening and weekend sessions to fit student needs
