Holloway Thliveris LLP is currently looking for a litigation assistant/paralegal to join our team. The successful applicant will perform legal administrative work of a responsible and confidential nature for one or more professionals.
Located in recently renovated office space in downtown Winnipeg, Holloway Thliveris LLP is a fast-growing law firm specializing in construction litigation and corporate commercial law.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and drafting various correspondence, documents, and litigation pleadings
- Opening, updating, organizing, maintaining, and closing files
- Maintaining efficient electronic and physical files and document management
- Performing conflict checks
- Reviewing and revising formatting, spelling and grammar on legal documents and correspondence
- Transcription of electronic dictation
- Performing various online searches
- Performing general administrative duties as required
- Preparing statements of accounts
- Managing calendars
- Maintaining client communications and, where necessary, acting as primary contact with clients and other counsel
- Writing routine correspondence
- Assistance to counsel and paralegals in a team environment
- Administrative duties, such as processing payments, bank deposits, filing documents in court and generally looking after the administrative affairs of the office
Qualifications include:
- Minimum five years experience as a litigation legal assistant
- Ability to communicate effectively with other firm members
- Ability to use discretion when dealing with confidential information
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail, especially as it relates to document drafting and proofreading skills, and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
