Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners (NP) to join nursing teams in First Nations communities in Ontario, Manitoba, Quebec and Alberta.
As an integral part of the team, you will carry out a full scope of practice and provide a broad range of services unique to northern nursing with ISC. You will work alongside a talented team of nurses, other health professionals, and community members dedicated to delivering quality care in a culturally safe way.
Nurse Practitioners provide onsite and remote consultative services to the population health and primary care team. They deliver comprehensive primary health care services to clients at every stage of life that may include autonomous diagnosis and illness treatment, ordering and interpreting tests, prescribing medications and performing minor medical procedures. They will educate clients and their families about healthy living, disease prevention and managing illness, while incorporating new knowledge into practice. All NPs will have access to supports from Nurse Practice Consultants and a Nurse Practitioner community of practice.
Experience:
- Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse (in the last five years) in one or more of the following areas: Acute care; intensive care; primary care clinic*.*Primary Care Clinic = Clinic setting where a variety of professionals are accountable for addressing a large majority of personal health care needs.
Locations:
- First Nations communities in Ontario, Manitoba, Quebec and Alberta.

Rotation:
- Travel/outpost nursing rotations will include a combination of days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Typical rotations are 2 weeks in, 2 weeks out, or 4 weeks in 4 weeks out.

Salary range:
- $84,187 - $98,114 pensionable annual base salary for full-time positions. Salary rate is pro-rated for part-time positions. (plus applicable allowances)

Allowances
*Nurses may be eligible for the following allowances. Maximum amounts are based on full-time positions, all amounts are pro-rated for part-time positions.
Education
- $3300 annual for Bachelor’s degree, paid bi-weekly
- $3850 annual for Master’s degree, paid bi-weekly
Recruitment
- $6750 lump sum paid within first 2-3 pay periods
- $9750 lump sum paid after 12 months of work
*Recruitment allowance eligibility is for first time Government of Canada new hires.
Retention
- $16,500 annual after 12 months of service, paid bi-weekly
*The increase in recruitment and retention allowances went into effect September 1, 2022, and will continue through to March 31, 2025, or when a new collective agreement is reached, whichever comes first.
Nurse Practitioner
- $18,000 annual, paid bi-weekly when working in an NP role
Isolated Post Allowance
- Up to $25,958 annual (dependent upon the classification of the isolated post), paid bi-weekly
- Classification levels are subject to change; annual rates are updated every August 1st.
