We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual with a CLASS 1 license who also possesses mechanical abilities to do minor repairs and maintenance as needed. In addition to driving the tractor trailer, the right candidate will also be operating, as required, a straight truck (single axle and tandem axle) and be willing and able to take planned trips to the lower mainland to deliver and pickup items such as vehicles, machinery etc. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting freight safely, securely and efficiently while adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies. This role requires a patient individual with strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills (drivers abstract required), strong communication and comprehension skill set and the ability to operate heavy equipment when necessary such as telehandlers, forklifts, zoom booms, scissor-lifts as well as other types of construction equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailer with Landoll flat deck or low bed safely and efficiently with trips all over the island as required and into the lower mainland to deliver and pickup equipment.
- Operate straight tilt/slide deck truck ( tandem and single) as required
- Ability to load excavators , forklifts, telehanders, zoom booms , and other pieces of equipment as well as 20 and 40 foot c cans
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the transport truck, ensuring it is in good working condition and all safety gear and equipment are maintained and stowed properly-resposible for monitoring maintainece of truck as well as keepping all gear stowed cleanly and properly in the truck.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of hours driven, routes taken, and any incidents that occur.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Load and unload freight as needed, utilizing forklifts or other heavy equipment when required.
- Perform basic mechanical repairs or maintenance on the trucks as necessary.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 drivers license. Drivers abstract will be requested/required.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with tractor-trailer and equipment.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety regulations.
- Experience operating forklifts and heavy equipment is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform basic automotive repairs.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while on the road.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
