Job Summary
The HR & Finance Manager oversees the daily financial health and human resources infrastructure of our organization. This dual-function leadership role balances strict financial controls, payroll accuracy, and internal audit support with full-cycle talent management and benefits optimization. Based in Ottawa, this leader will directly manage a team of three financial professionals, ensuring operational excellence across both departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Operations
Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and review the daily work of three financial specialists handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and basic bookkeeping.-
Office Financial Management: Oversee day-to-day corporate accounting functions, monitor cash flow, and prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements.

Bank Reconciliation: Oversee and perform regular ledger reconciliations against bank statements to ensure absolute accuracy and resolve discrepancies immediately.

Internal Audit Support: Maintain transparent financial records, establish rigorous internal controls, and coordinate documentation for annual external audits.
Payroll, Benefits & Compliance
Payroll Processing: Administer end-to-end Canadian payroll production, ensuring precise tracking of hours, accurate tax withholdings, and timely remittances.-
Benefits Administration: Manage the corporate group insurance plans, health savings accounts, and retirement savings plans (RRSP), serving as the main point of contact for providers.

Year-End Compliance: Coordinate annual Canadian tax filing requirements, issue T4 slips, and ensure strict adherence to Ontario Employment Standards.
Human Resources & Talent Acquisition
Full-Cycle Recruitment: Partner with department heads to draft job descriptions, post listings, screen candidates, and lead the recruitment pipeline.-
Onboarding & Offboarding: Coordinate employment offers, build contracts, manage background checks, and lead the corporate onboarding experience.

HR Compliance: Maintain secure, confidential personnel files and update company policies to stay compliant with changing provincial labour laws.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.-
Experience: 10+ years of blended experience managing both corporate bookkeeping/finance and HR functions, with at least 10 years in a supervisory role.

Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Canadian cloud accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and modern HRIS/Payroll platforms (e.g., ADP, Ceridian, Humi HR). Knowledge of Salesforce also an asset.
Assets & Preferred Skills
Language: English required. Bilingualism an asset.-
Industry Experience: Direct experience working within the insurance or healthcare sectors is considered a strong asset.
