Are you someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining community spaces, and values teamwork? The Town of Sundre is looking for a Community Services Operator II to support our parks, facilities, and recreational infrastructure.
Reporting to the Community Services Manager, this position offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to be part of the crew that helps maintain and improve Sundre’s parks, trails, and facilities. Whether you’re resurfacing ice at the arena or maintaining our beautiful green spaces, you’ll be making a visible impact in our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Parks and trail maintenance including landscaping, mowing, and upkeep of public spaces
- Arena operations such as ice installation and maintenance, using resurfacers and related equipment
- Daily facility checks, janitorial tasks, minor repairs, and general upkeep
- Assisting with recreational and community events when needed
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a team member who:
- Learns quickly and works independently with minimal supervision
- Is reliable, takes initiative, and communicates well with colleagues, contractors, and the public
- Can safely and efficiently perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma (Grade 12)
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license
- Ability to perform manual labour and work in varied conditions
- Ability to work evening and weekend shifts during peak seasons
- Successful candidates will undergo a driver’s abstract and Criminal Records Check
Assets (preferred, but not mandatory):
- Arena Operator Level I certification (or equivalent experience)
- Turfgrass Management or Horticulture certificate
- Courses from AARFP (e.g., Recreation Facility Personnel Training)
- Previous experience with landscaping, facility maintenance, or ice resurfacing
