As our firm experiences’ exponential growth, we are seeking an Associate that is able to carry their own files with a large degree of independence, possess an entrepreneurial spirit and a proven success in building positive client relationships
In this role, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
● Representing clients in proceedings, drafting legal documents and advising clients on family law matters
● Drafting applications, answers, replies, legal memos, facta and other court documents
● Preparing for and attending conferences
● Represent clients in negotiations, mediation, mediation/arbitration, collaborative law processes and court appearances
● Prepare for and attend conferences, motions, trials, and ADR processes.
To be successful in this role, you possess:
● Minimum of 2 years of family law experience including family litigation and negotiated settlements
● LL.B. or J.D. with a license to practise law in Ontario
● Membership in good standing with the Law Society
● In-depth knowledge of Family Law Rules
● Excellent knowledge of Divorcemate
● Experience and/or training in collaborative practice or mediation/arbitration would be an asset
● Excellent drafting skills
● Strong attention to detail, analysis and problem solving skills
● Ability to build rapport with clients, respond with empathy and practical advice
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Able to work collaboratively in a small team, as well as independently
