About The Berczy Tavern
Located in the heart of Old Town Toronto, The Berczy Tavern is an upscale restaurant and piano bar offering a lively dining experience with live piano performances. Known for our exceptional service, diverse menu, and ever-evolving wine selection, we are committed to delivering an unforgettable experience to our guests. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a passionate and organized Head Host to lead our front-of-house team and create an inviting atmosphere for all patrons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome guests warmly, ensuring a memorable first impression.
- Manage reservations and optimize table seating to maximize revenue and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee and train the host team, ensuring excellent service standards and smooth communication between the front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
- Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Coordinate with management and servers to accommodate large parties or special events.
- Maintain an organized and calm demeanor during peak hours, ensuring guest flow is smooth.
- Update and manage reservation systems, communicating any updates or changes to the team in real-time.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a welcoming and polished environment in line with The Berczy Tavern’s upscale standards.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a head host or in a similar leadership role in a high-end or upscale restaurant environment.
- Advanced experience with OpenTable or a similar reservation management system is essential, as it will be a key part of your role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with guests and team members alike.
- A keen eye for detail, ensuring every aspect of guest service, table setup, and team coordination meets our high standards.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, especially during busy service periods.
- A polished, professional demeanor with a focus on guest service excellence.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
