Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Service Writer to join our power sports and automotive dealership team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers needing vehicle service, ensuring a seamless experience from intake to vehicle pickup. This role combines excellent customer service skills with automotive knowledge to facilitate repairs, upsell services, and maintain strong client relationships. Prior dealership or mechanic experience is preferred, but a strong mechanical knowledge and passion for power sports and automotive repair are essential. The Service Writer plays a vital role in supporting the service department’s operations and contributing to customer satisfaction.
Duties
- Greet customers promptly and professionally upon arrival, understanding their vehicle concerns and service needs
- Write detailed repair orders by accurately documenting customer complaints and vehicle issues
- Communicate effectively with technicians regarding repair requirements and timelines
- Provide clear explanations of recommended services and repairs to customers, ensuring transparency
- Upsell additional services or maintenance based on customer needs and vehicle requirements
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including processing payments and issuing receipts
- Maintain organized records of service orders, customer interactions, and vehicle histories
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing the flow of vehicles through the service department
Skills
- Previous dealership experience or mechanic background is highly desirable
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems and repairs
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Sales aptitude with experience in upselling services effectively
- Proficiency in cash handling and basic administrative tasks
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively
