Clearwater County Community Peace Officers protect County infrastructure through the enforcement of identified provincial statutes and municipal bylaws, as well as through community education and engagement initiatives. Key responsibilities include infrastructure protection & public safety, education & awareness programs, inspections, and other projects and assignments.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of commercial vehicle enforcement, weights and dimensions regulations, transportation legislation, and heavy equipment operations. This position requires a strong understanding of applicable provincial and federal legislation governing commercial vehicle safety, load securement, weights and dimensions, permits, inspections, and carrier compliance.
Required Qualifications:
Education / Certification
- Completed law enforcement program at a recognized post-secondary institute (degree or diploma level)
- Completed Provincial Peace Officer training program Police Tactical Training
- Officer Safety Training
- Working knowledge of provincial and federal legislation, including the Traffic Safety Act
- Valid PARE physical testing (under 4:45)
Experience:
- 5-8 years of experience working with enforcement and compliance of public legislation, traffic enforcement, commercial vehicle safety and rural bylaw enforcement
- Experience working with municipal governments
