Job Description:
Reporting to the Chair, Culinary Arts, the Food Service Worker provides front-line customer service to faculty, staff and students in the storeroom and assists with the overall appearance and cleanliness of the labs. The incumbent will issue supplies based on requests and departmental directives (business processes), inventory and restock lab par stock items, general housekeeping duties (sweeping, garbage removal, recycling), and regular cleaning of lab equipment. The selected candidates must have strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, knowledge of food and beverage items, kitchen sanitation and safety standards, and the ability to scale and record items according to adopted standards. This position is responsible for closing the storeroom facilities at the end of the shift. This position is entirely onsite and has the potential to require weekend shifts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide front-line customer service for the hospitality storeroom;
Monitor, issue, and record par-stock inventories in all labs;
Receive deliveries on occasion according to standard operating procedures – matching delivery with the purchase order, checking items, verifying invoices, storing delivered items according to standards;
Pre-pack food and beverage items according to standards and prepare lab orders according to detailed lists and standard operating procedures;
Assist in cleaning and organizing all lab classrooms; extra focus happens during weeks of no academic programming.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent;
Food Handlers certificate required;
One (1) year experience in a food service related industry and knowledge of food preparation is an asset.
Anticipated weekly schedule:

This position requires regular on-site work at Algonquin College’s Woodroffe (Ottawa) Campus
