Position: Pipelayer/Labourer
Job Description: Leighton Contracting, a leading civil construction company and COR certified, is seeking an experienced and motivated Pipelayer/Labor to join our team in Courtenay, BC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction, with at least 2 years of experience and the ability to use pipe lasers effectively. This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, being a team player, and adhering to safety standards. Additionally, the candidate should have knowledge of codes and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install utilities accurately using pipe lasers and other relevant tools.
- Perform various labor tasks associated with pipeline installation and civil construction projects.
- Ensure all work is completed according to relevant codes and specifications.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective project completion.
- Lead and mentor less experienced team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Maintain a high level of safety on the job site, following all company and regulatory guidelines.
- Self-start and manage tasks independently while contributing to team goals.
- Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
- Take direction from supervisors and work closely with the crew.
- Have experience using cut off saws, packers, and general hand tools.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil construction, specifically in pipelaying.
- Proficiency in using pipe lasers and related equipment.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and work effectively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of work.
- Strong understanding of safety practices in construction environments.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the company.
- Ability to read plans and grade stakes.

Pay: $28.00-$36.00 per hour
