Pickering Sports Medicine and Wellness Center is one of Durham’s premier facilities for physiotherapy and rehabilitation care. Operating since 2001, we are conveniently located in the Pickering Recreation Complex with full gym and facility access. We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Physiotherapy Assistant who enjoys working with an interdisciplinary team with an interest or expertise in sports medicine as well as general out-patient rehabilitation.
Our sports medicine team is dedicated to patient care excellence through comprehensive assessments and a professional, multidisciplinary approach to treatment. We are a hands-on clinic with a strong focus on manual therapy, K-taping, soft tissue techniques as well as massage and acupuncture.

In this position you would:
1. In collaboration with the physiotherapist, develop a written exercise program for each patient
2. Provide leadership to group exercise classes and other related health and fitness activities
3. Apply modalities to patients as directed by the Physiotherapist following established treatment procedures
4. Document all care provided in the patient record
5. Communicate regularly with patients, their families as well as the members of interdisciplinary team
Requirements for this Position:
- OTA and PTA diploma or equivalent.
- Evidence of ongoing continuing education and dedication to professional development.
- Positive and customer-focused approach to patient care
- Ability to work independently and as part of an inter-professional team
- Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
- Experience working in out-patient physiotherapy/multidisciplinary clinic (preferred but new grads welcome)
- Current CPR and Police Check (vulnerable sector)
