OPL #06-2026 Public Services Clerk Part-time Temporary – 1 Position
Under the direction of the Branch Manager, this position provides pro-active customer and information service to the public.
Job Title: Public Services Clerk
Hourly Rate: $29.87 - $31.64
Contract Duration: 6 months
Reports to: Branch Manager
Location: McLaughlin Branch
Hours: 15 – 25 hours per week. To regularly work evenings and weekends at any of our 4 branches.
General Description of Duties:
- Provides pro-active circulation, information and customer service to Library customers.
- Responds to all customer requests in person, phone or email.
- Provide excellent customer service at service points.
- May assist with planning and the delivery of library programs.
- Assists with recommendations to enhance the library collection and program maintenance.
- May assists with displays.
- May assist with holds procedure.
- Other duties or special projects as assigned.
- This position requires you to take every reasonable precaution to protect the health and safety of yourself and others.
Skills and Abilities required:
· Strong Customer Service Ethic.
· Technological competency, including proficiency with circulation and office software.
· Familiarity with technology and social media used by the public.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
· Ability to provide courteous, responsive and effective service to the public.
· Ability to be enthusiastic, engaged, willing to learn and embrace change.

Physical Skills and Working Conditions:
This position requires keyboarding, handling of materials, pushing/pulling trucks, physical set up of programs, packing and unpacking boxes, working at the service points and dealing with difficult customer behaviour.
Required Qualifications & Education:
- Secondary School Diploma, plus a minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge and experience working with diverse communities.
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
- A Criminal Record Check satisfactory to the Employer is required for this position.
