About the Role:
Bosa Construction’s finance department is dedicated to ensuring and maintaining the financial health of our construction entities. As part of the largest team in our organization and as one of the most senior leaders in the department, the Controller will provide financial insight and guidance to our business leaders and be empowered to implement and improve accuracy of financial data, workflows, and efficiencies in our processes. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, this role is responsible for the following:
Financial Management
- Monitor the financial performance of select construction entities;

Provide insightful reporting, analysis and insight senior leadership and other stakeholders to explain financial variances, and inform strategic and operational decisions;

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and all internal policies, procedures, and controls;

Oversee month-end process and schedule to comply with internal and corporate deadlines, including the development of month-end working papers and reconciliations;

Review and approve monthly financials and associated working papers and schedules to ensure data accurately reflects construction activities; including project revenue and costs, overhead allocations, and balance sheet accounts;

Oversee accounts receivable and payable schedules to ensure cash is managed effectively;

Approve and release bank payments, including vendor payments, payroll and statutory payments (GST, income tax, payroll tax etc);
- Oversee information provided for year-end audits and tax submissions;

Collaborate with FP&A team to ensure annual budgets and 1-5 year P&L and cash-flow forecasts are in line with our construction entities’ business plans and activities;

Collaborate with Corporate Accounting team to foster best practice across divisions.
People Management

Lead, mentor, and manage the finance team by providing timely support, feedback and guidance to provide accurate and quality service for all stakeholders;
- Demonstrate, build, and maintain strong working relationships between the accounting team and all levels of the business;

Empower accounting teams to work collectively towards improving the accuracy and efficiency of the Finance department.

Skills and Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a Controller position, in addition to five (5) years of progressive work experience in the accounting field;
- Experience within the construction industry or related fields will be highly preferred;
- CPA designation with a degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field;
- Proficient with different accounting systems (i.e., Acumatica, Sage) or a similar accounting/ERP system;
- Demonstrated expertise in change management techniques with an ability to lead a team through both pre-implementation planning and post-evaluation phases;
- Excellent interpersonal communications skills, both verbal and written.
