Reporting Analyst

Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Analytics & Business Applications (EABA), the Reporting Analyst supports the design, development, and maintenance of the University's Enterprise Reporting environment. The incumbent performs the work required to deliver reporting solutions to support Finance, Human Resources and Advancement Services teams. The incumbent works closely with the University user community, senior analysts and other UIT technical teams to ensure that the reporting environment supports timely, relevant, and accurate information. The incumbent will function as a technical lead on assigned projects, author technical documentation, troubleshoot and resolve production problems and make recommendations for system and process enhancements.

Education:
University degree in computer science, or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience:
Five (5) years of continuous and progressive experience in enterprise report development supporting multiple user groups in the last 7 years. Extensive experience supporting enterprise reporting for Finance, Human Resources and Advancement Services is a key requirement. Preference will be given to those with specific PeopleSoft ERP experience. Experience in higher education sector would be an asset.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical users (written and oral), exceptional ability in requirements gathering and translating user needs into system requirements, must have a strong customer service orientation, exceptional analytical, evaluative and technical problem solving skills, solid and practical knowledge of n-tier client server architecture, in-depth understanding of relational databases and enterprise reporting systems, thorough understanding of full system reporting development lifecycle, ability to work independently, set priorities and work effectively under pressure, ability to perform effectively as part of a team (internal and/or external resources), ability to exercise tact and diplomacy, ability to deal calmly and effectively with people, ability to multi-task and meet long/short term deadlines, ability to attend accurately to detail, ability and willingness to keep abreast of technological developments with strong ability to adapt quickly to rapidly changing environments, excellent organizational skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, ability to write clear, concise documentation.Advanced Technical Skills Required in:
  • Programming Languages: SQL, PL/SQL, HTML, Java, JavaScript
  • ETL Reporting: Actuate eReport, BIRTIntermediate Technical Skills Required in:
  • Operating Systems: Unix, Windows
  • ETL Reporting: OBIEE, Informatica Power Center
  • Applications: Web Browser, Excel, Word, Visio, Project, ERP (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP, Banner

Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pmSummer: Monday to Thursday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
