Personal Caregiver
Location: Parkdale, Toronto
I'm seeking a dependable, compassionate caregiver to join my care team and provide one-on-one support in my home.
I am an independent woman with a high-level spinal cord injury who lives with my two school-aged sons. I'm looking for someone who is professional, reliable, and enjoys building genuine, respectful working relationships. This is not a facility or agency position - it's an opportunity to make a meaningful difference while supporting someone in maintaining an active, independent life.
Responsibilities
- Personal care (dressing, bathing, toileting, grooming)
- Transfers and positioning (training provided) - manual lifting and transferring required 40kg
- Meal preparation
- Housekeeping and laundry
- Assisting with errands and appointments
- Occasional assistance with parenting-related tasks
- Supporting an active lifestyle, including community outings when required
Qualifications
- Previous caregiving, PSW, nursing, or equivalent experience not required
- Strong self starter with proficiency in working independently
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful
- Excellent communication skills
- Reliably able to commute to Parkdale
- Legally entitled to work in Canada - I'm not able to provide LMIA or sponsorship
- CPR/First Aid is considered an asset
- Criminal Record Check (or willingness to obtain one)\
- Comfortable assisting with MANUAL transfers and personal care (capable of lifting 40kg - NO LIFTING EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE)
- Able to safely perform the physical aspects of caregiving with appropriate body mechanics
Regular part-time available 25-35 hours per week, including weekday mornings, evenings, and weekends. Must have weekend availability.
Morning shifts are between 6 AM and 1 PM, afternoon shifts are usually between 4 PM and 11 PM - times may vary depending on school/work commitments.
Compensation
- $20–$25 per hour
