AFTERNOON COOK
Location: Duncan, BC
Shift: Monday – Friday | 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM (adjustable)
Term: Full Time
Wage: $20-$25 hour (based on experience)
Position Summary
Cooks are responsible for executing batch recipes at scale, ensuring accuracy in ingredient handling, cooking processes, and food safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook large-scale recipes following batch sheets
- Accurately measure and scale ingredients
- Monitor cooking times, temperatures, and consistency
- Record batch data and maintain traceability
- Ensure allergen control and sanitation standards are met
Job Description Requirements
Education & Skills
- Grade 12 minimum; culinary or food-related training preferred
- Strong math skills (ratios, scaling, batch adjustments)
- Ability to interpret recipes and production instructions
Core Competencies
- High level of accuracy and consistency
- Strong understanding of food safety (HACCP mindset)
- Ability to troubleshoot minor process deviations
Technical Requirements
- Experience with kettles, mixers, or industrial cooking equipment (asset)
- Food Safe Level 1 required
Physical Requirements
- Lifting ingredients (up to 50 lbs)
- Standing for extended periods
