Summary
- The Porter is responsible for maintaining the interior cleanliness of the grocery store, 4 days a week, from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm
- This position ensures compliance with health and safety regulations by performing continuous cleaning such as surface wipes and sweeping, waste removal, and floor maintenance, while providing excellent customer service when interacting with shoppers on the floor.
Responsibilities
- Floor Maintenance: Sweep, dust-mop, and damp-mop, to keep aisles clear of debris, dust, and scuffs.
- Spill Response: Act as the first responder for broken jars, leaking liquids, or dropped produce to eliminate slip-and-fall hazards immediately.
- Restroom Upkeep: Clean, sanitize, and restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in both customer and employee restrooms on a regular schedule.
- Surface Sanitization: Clean and wipe down high-touch areas, including service counters, shopping cart handles, cafeteria tables, and entrance glass.
- Waste & Recyclables Management. Empty trash receptacles inside the store breakrooms, checkout lanes, service departments.
Requirements
- Grocery portering is a highly active role that demands physical stamina.
- Candidates must be able to Stand and Walk across the store;
- Routinely lift and carry objects weighing up to **50 lbs** (e.g., trash bags, heavy mop buckets, cases of cleaning chemicals);
- Constantly bend, kneel, squat, reach overhead, and push/pull heavy equipment or lines of shopping carts.
