The Town of Okotoks is seeking an experienced, highly organized full-time Manager to join our team!

Reporting to the Corporate & Strategic Services Director, the Environment & Sustainability Manager is responsible for developing environmental policy and practices, implementing and monitoring a long-term corporate and community wide strategy for sustainable development, and promoting the Town’s environmental leadership initiatives. Responsibilities will also include coordinating the development and delivery of public education programs that include water, waste and energy use reduction and broad conservation initiatives.

The Environment & Sustainability Manager will present to Council on all matters relating to environment & sustainability as required. The incumbent will also represent the Town, and cultivate productive, collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The Environment & Sustainability Manager is responsible for successful management and leadership of employees, including providing guidance, performance feedback and evaluations, development and training while fostering a strong team dynamic with a cross-functional team focus that reflects the Town’s values and our customer service focus.

The successful incumbent will have a degree in Environmental Science or related field as well as a minimum of 7 years experience in progressively senior roles, including supervisory or management experience. Previous municipal government experience will be considered a strong asset. This position will be the corporate environment and sustainability subject matter expert. Advanced public relations and written & oral communication skills are required. Strong organizational skills, analytical and technical aptitude is required.
