What You'll Do
As a Hydrovac Labourer, you will support Hydrovac Operators in the safe exposure of underground utilities and infrastructure throughout the Edmonton area. You will play an important role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting Hydrovac Operators with exposing underground utilities and infrastructure
- Performing physically demanding labour activities in support of construction operations
- Working with hand tools and power equipment
- Supporting excavation, utility locating, and site preparation activities
- Maintaining clean, organized, and safe worksites
- Following all company safety policies, procedures, and standards
- Demonstrating a strong sense of urgency and commitment to assigned work
- Assisting with site setup, cleanup, and material handling
- Supporting crews with various construction and utility-related tasks as required
- Performing other duties as assigned in support of JATEC's operations and your professional development
The Reality

- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Perform physically demanding labour throughout the workday
- Frequently lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, and work on uneven terrain
- Work 8-10 hour shifts, up to 5-6 days per week depending on project requirements
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety while working around construction equipment and active worksites
- Participate in client-required pre-access testing and site requirements

What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, and perform physical labour throughout the workday
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to pass client-required pre-access drug and alcohol screening
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn

- Previous hydrovac experience
- Outdoor construction experience
- Telecommunications construction experience
- Underground utility construction experience
- Experience operating mini excavators
- Experience operating skid steers
- Ground Disturbance Level II Certification
- CSTS 2020 Certification
- Standard First Aid & CPR Certification

Compensation
Competitive Hourly Wage
Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated industry expertise.
