The Project: The Mace Consult legal team provides legal support for the Mace business worldwide, working from our Global HQ in Moorgate, London and our MEA office in Abu Dhabi. The Mace Consult legal team is seeking specific support for the Americas hub, with potential for a wider portfolio to include other hubs in a truly global operating environment. The Americas hub spans the US, Canada and several LATAM countries. The role can be based in any Mace Consult location in the Americas Hub.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate a pragmatic, commercial approach to law with expertise in the built environment sector. Working with commercial stakeholders and the local leadership team, the ideal candidate will embed Mace Consult’s global governance programme into the business across the Americas hub, linking into the London-based legal team but operating day to day relatively autonomously in a very commercial environment.

You’ll responsible for :
Review of appointment contracts received with client tenders to identify risks to Mace;
Negotiation and drafting of appointment contracts and joint venture agreements, drafting supply chain step-down contracts.
Close liaison with commercial teams to manage the process of contract review through to signing of contracts and ad hoc advice through the life of the project.
Contribute to legal department training sessions for commercial colleagues.
Updating precedent documents.
Assisting commercial colleagues in managing and mitigating potential dispute situations, raising and managing insurance notifications.
Work with Mace’s insurance brokers and occasionally with external counsel.
You’ll Need To Have:
Mid-level construction or general commercial lawyer, qualified in any jurisdiction relevant to the rol.
3-7 years’ relevant experience in a legal role.
Legal qualification in-house or in a private practice construction team or other relevant discipline;
Risk reviews, negotiation and drafting of bespoke forms of consultancy appointment and all ancillary documentation such as LOAs, NDAs, PCGs, performance bonds, sub-consultant contracts, and collateral warranties;
Understanding of insurance, public procurement law, and dispute avoidance;
Fluent business and legal English (spoken and written).
Experience of dealing with performance-based contracts, joint venture agreements, joint ventures and teaming arrangements;
International legal or commercial experience;
Experience with commercial digital contracts and data governance matters;
Understanding of regulatory compliance issues including anti-bribery, data privacy, modern slavery, etc;
Familiarity with industry standard forms of contract eg FIDIC, NEC
Business and legal Spanish (spoken and written).
Note: The estimated salary for this position is 130,000 - 180,000 CAD. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
