About the Role
In this role, you will help plan, coordinate, and deliver engineering development projects across technical disciplines such as systems, software, electrical, mechanical, firmware, test, quality, operations, and supply chain. You will bring structure to complex work by managing scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, dependencies, and change control while keeping stakeholders aligned and delivery commitments visible.
You will work closely with Engineering leadership and cross-functional partners to define project plans, clarify requirements, coordinate integration milestones, support verification and validation planning, and make sure teams have the information, decisions, and alignment they need to deliver high-quality outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Manage technical development projects from concept through release, coordinating cross-functional engineering workstreams and integration milestones.
- Develop and maintain project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, deliverables, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and key decision points.
- Facilitate planning, prioritization, and decision-making with Engineering leadership, Product or Program stakeholders, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and other partners.
- Translate stakeholder needs into clear requirements, acceptance criteria, priorities, and project deliverables.
- Track project progress, manage risks and issues, support change control, and escalate decisions or constraints when needed.
- Coordinate verification, validation, integration testing, compliance needs, and release readiness activities with relevant technical teams.
- Prepare clear project documentation, status updates, trackers, meeting notes, decision summaries, and reporting materials.
- Identify practical opportunities to improve engineering delivery practices, planning routines, documentation standards, and project management workflows.
What You’ll Bring
- Post-secondary education in engineering, applied science, computer science, project management, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing technical projects, engineering development programs, product development initiatives, or complex cross-functional technical deliverables.
- Working knowledge of engineering development lifecycles, including requirements, design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, testing, and release.
- Strong ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, and change control in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to coordinate across technical disciplines and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong written communication, facilitation, organization, prioritization, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Assets
- Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum, or equivalent project management certification or training.
- Experience managing distributed or multi-site technical teams.
- Experience with hybrid delivery approaches, including structured project management practices and iterative engineering workflows.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Wrike, Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Confluence, SharePoint, or similar systems.
- Experience coordinating verification and validation activities, release readiness, production transition, or technical acceptance processes.
- Experience in technical product development, marine technology, underwater acoustics, environmental monitoring, instrumentation, sensors, embedded systems, or other specialized engineering environments.
Security Screening Requirement
Because of the nature of the work, this position requires, at minimum, the ability to successfully complete reliability status security screening. This includes a 5-year criminal record check and a 5-year background check. To obtain this status in a timely manner, candidates must have resided continuously in Canada for the past 5 years. Please indicate in your resume or cover letter whether you meet the 5-year residence requirement.
