Responsibilities
- Process Development: Design, execute, and analyze experiments to develop new thin film materials for ALD and PVD processes, including precursor/target selection, process window definition, and film property optimization.
- Materials Characterization: Characterize film composition, structure, and properties using techniques such as XRD, XRR, AFM, XPS, SEM/TEM, ellipsometry, and profilometry, and translate results into process improvements
- Novel Materials Research: Build and maintain structure-property-process relationships to guide materials selection for target applications. Contribute to IP generation, including invention disclosures and patent support, where applicable
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with device/integration, equipment, and characterization teams to move materials from concept to qualified process
- External Communication: Partner with vendors and customers to optimize materials and processes for specific applications. Support scale-up and technology transfer activities as processes mature

Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field (candidates with an MS and significant relevant industry experience will also be considered)

Successful candidates will demonstrate exceptional skills in prioritizing task, meeting deadlines, and flexibility in managing multiple responsibilities, even under pressure with shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: Industry experience in semiconductor, advanced packaging, or adjacent thin film industries. Experience with both ALD and PVD in a single role or research program. Track record of peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, or patents in thin film materials
