ABOUT THE ROLE
The OSP Clinician is responsible for a combination of clinical functions, including administering assessments (intake/triage), providing psychotherapy, and providing interim support to clients. The specific functions will be determined based on the operational needs of the program.
The Clinician will provide services in alignment with the clinical guidelines of the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) Program, supporting clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and anxiety-related conditions. Services may be delivered by various methods, including but not limited to, telephone, virtually, or in person, in both individual and group settings.
Assessments are structured to support decisions regarding participation and psychotherapy treatment within the OSP stepped-care program. Treatment is based on a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework and follows specific evidence-based protocols, typically delivered over a series of sessions spanning approximately two to four months for each client.
As part of the OSP Program's measurement-based care approach, the Clinician will administer structured questionnaires to assess clients' quality of life, functioning, and symptoms of anxiety and depression. The Clinician will also maintain accurate client records, monitor client progress, and communicate client concerns or safety issues to the appropriate primary healthcare provider and the CMHA Clinical Consultation Team.
The Clinical Consultation Team (Clinical Psychologists) provides clinical oversight to the OSP program and evaluates clinicians’ fidelity to treatment protocols. To support treatment fidelity and clinical effectiveness, the Clinician is required to adhere to the clinical directives provided by the Clinical Consultation Team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Conducts assessments, in accordance to OSP guidelines, for stepped-care triage and to inform individualized treatment plans.
- Provides treatment following specified Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), evidence based protocols.
- Participates in regular Clinical Consultation meetings with a Clinical Consultant including standardized evaluation of random and selected session recording(s)
- It is anticipated that the incumbent will provide services to a minimum of 5-7 clients per day, depending on the frequency of client contact required of the administered protocol.
- Collaborates with team members in provision of care.
- Contributes to program development and program evaluation activities/undertakings.
- Supports departmental training, as needed.
- Maintains an efficient and accurate computerized client records and statistical information.
- Ensures that any sensitive and confidential information is maintained in a safe and secure manner.
- Attends and participates in team meetings, as required.

- Report incidents, hazards, and concerns and assist with investigations as required.
- Work cooperatively to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
- Comply with organizational policies, program guidelines, and the Client Safety Framework.
- Complete required health and safety training and recommend safety improvements when identified.

- Regularly updates professional knowledge through educational events, workshops, and profession related reading and training.
- Represents HF Care in a positive and professional way with internal and external stakeholders

Education and Experiences
- Registered in the province of Ontario as a registrant in good standing with the appropriate College and eligible to provide the controlled act of psychotherapy as either a Registered Social Worker, Registered Occupational Therapist, Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Nurse.
- Autonomously registered in one of the above colleges with no required clinical supervision.
- Master’s degree in health or mental health area required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the delivery of individual CBT is required.
- Documented evidence of CBT training with adequate supervision is required.
- Experience with scheduling and electronic medical record keeping using a clinical management system is required.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated clinical proficiency in the etiology, classification, and treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders as well as CBT and its application in mood and anxiety disorders.
- Demonstrated clinical proficiency in the science and practices of psychotherapy including a full range of psychotherapeutic and assessment techniques.
- Results-oriented work ethic and ability to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and to deliver quality, consistent and timely results
- Strong assessment skills to deliver and interpret symptom and outcome measures
- Demonstrated analytical, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
- Proven written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to adapt readily to change
- Models and promotes core ethical practice, organization’s values, and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
- Proficiency in Cantonese, French/English language skills is considered an asset
- Familiarity with a Microsoft Office365 applications (Teams, Outlook, etc)
- Experience using record keeping software and ERMS (Electronic Record Managing System)
Additional Requirement and Working Conditions
- A valid Canadian driver’s license, a minimum $1,000,000 third party liability insurance and proof of insurance coverage of personal vehicle
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) Valid Canadian driver's licence.
- Office-based work with day, evening, and weekend hours required based on client scheduling needs.
- Travel may be required to off-site locations for events and community stakeholder engagements.
